What's New

2009 has already seen some excellent lectures.

Another full day of digital AV was held at the Bryn Community Centre in March with Linda and Edgar Gibbs giving some tips and tricks on how to produce good AV as well as showing us their own prize winning sequences.

In May we were at last able to enjoy a day with Steve Littlewood who demonstrated many brilliant effects of using Photoshop to create the best prints. Steve had prepared the day so well those who attended were able to take away a booklet of all his notes and handy advice. Once again we were able to also enjoy seeing Steve's own stunning photography and learn how he produced the prints
.

We have used venues in two handy South Wales locations, but sadly each time it was a great worry if we would have anyone show up on the day. Very few had booked in advance and it is disappointing to face lecturers with low numbers turning up. Both halls have handy links to the M4 and good parking facilities.

This year has been difficult for me with the sudden death of my father making it difficult to organise the South Wales RPS Digital Group days. I still need a team of regular helpers who can attand and help me set up the venues. My sincere Thanks go to Linda Baldwin who has helped with the booking and setting up the meetings at Coytrahen.

No one has contacted me asking for details of the workshops so I assume these would not be popular. Feedback about events is always appreciated. Thank you.

Best Wishes

Maureen

2008
New venue has been tried this year at Coytrahen, Near Bridgend
This is a very convenient venue which is quite close to the M4 Junction 36, but remember to drive North-west, away from Bridgend towards Maesteg (A4063)

The meeting on March 15th with Clive Haynes was fascinating with the opportunity to see lots of images and view some of his amazing work. Clive also showed many of his techniques. Many of Clive's techniques are listed on his web site here.

A proposed AV workshop had to be postponed until March next year.

This is the 50th anniversary year of AV or Diaporama as it is known on the Continent. It started in France and a French AV Club Gaphe of Hayange have produced a special DVD full of AVs which have recently won International Competitions. This will be shown at special Gala Evenings all over the World. The Welsh "Premier" will be at Cardiff AV Group's November meeting at the Heath Community Centre on November 10th 2008. All those interested in AV, Photo Harmony and viewing good International work should attend.
